a warm welcome is as easy as a pop of color.

this entryway has a great glass door with sidelights, but what really brings it to life is the contrast between the green/gray paint and the red cushion on the settee. mixing the silver-leaf mirror with the antique bronze light fixture keeps things bright and not too matchy-matchy, perfect for this client’s Chicago home.

this basement bathroom posed some challenges. low (7.5’) ceiling height, no windows and lots of load-bearing beams. impossible? no way.

using the same stone on the floor, shower and back wall makes the space feel larger and taller, and a vanity table with integrated sink simplifies the lines. the mosaic is the perfect scale for this small space, and creating a slightly lower chair rail effect helps make the ceiling feel higher. 6’ glass doors on the shower were used to allow an uninterrupted line of sight, and built-in shelves on the plumbing wall utilize every square inch of this tiny but luxurious bath.

even a small space can work for two when you plan ahead. compact sinks, cabinets and lighting create the individual space needed to accommodate two. dark green ceramic tile flooring from Ann Sacks mimics the pattern of hardwood floor, and the smaller width used in the chair rail ties the floor and countertop together, making the room feel wider. chrome fixtures bring a little energy and shine to the morning routine.
